All truck enthusiasts out there- get ready because a revamped version of the Ford F-150 Raptor is coming soon! The first generation of this mighty truck set its tires on roads back in 2010. Powering the first generation of the F-150 Raptor was a venerable 5.4-liter V-8. The second generation had a 6.2-liter V-8 under its bonnet, and you will soon find out what the 2017 model brings to the table in terms of engine. The F-150 Raptor has always been a heavyweight bruiser and it will always be that kind of vehicle. It has really a lot to offer in terms of performance and it is perfect for those who tend to go on off-road trips and seek adventures. Many things will be changed for the Raptor, for the better of course. New body design will be used for the 2017 model year. They will incorporate more aluminum and high-strength steel to make it stiffer and capable. The 2017 model year will also bring us an upgraded version of the interior and more powerful engine. Let’s check how good the 2017 F-150 Raptor really is.
2017 Ford F 150 Raptor Exterior
The carmaker brings the exterior of the 2017 F-150 Raptor to a completely new level. They will use the same design language as that of the 2015 F-150 Raptor but in completely new light. Since Ford received a lot of complaints regarding the vehicle’s stability, they decided to make the 2017 model wider. To be more precise, the new F-150 Raptor will be six inches wider for the sake of stability. It will be one of those models who can brag about their approach and departure angles since these two qualities of the F-150 Raptor are truly unmatchable. The newly designed headlights will now incorporate LED bulbs. Even the darkest desert trails will be easily illuminated since LED bulbs can reach farther than halogen units. The 2017 F-150 Raptor will ride on 17 inch wheels being wrapped in the KO2 tires. Yes, the legendary all-terrain TA tires. The truck will easily go over different terrains. The tires can even clean themselves or prevent chunking on rocky terrains. Moving to the back of the truck, you will see new, dual exhaust which gives the vehicle a more balanced look.
Interior of 2017 Ford F 150 Raptor
The interior changes of the F-150 Raptor are rather evolutionary than revolutionary. The carmaker did quite a bit to the cabin but it still looks pretty great. The cabin gets uniquely designed seats though. The newly designed seats feature suede and leather inserts. An upgraded version of the overhead console is also present in the upcoming model. Also new is a steering wheel with suede and leather inserts. The steering wheel also features F1-like paddle shifters. Key areas inside of the cabin are mostly covered in carbon fiber. The gauge cluster hosts a digital display which shows information about engine, off-road, and mechanical status. The carmaker hasn’t said if there will be several cabin configurations offered but we think there crew cabin and extended cabin configurations will be offered, as always.
Ford F 150 Raptor 2017 Engine
The new bodywork of the 2017 Ford F 150 Raptor hides many novelties under itself. Of course, there will be only one engine option. The one and only engine is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 for which the carmaker claims that it will be able to churn more power than the current 6.2-liter V-8. The V-8 engine was pretty great in terms of power, but it fell short in terms of efficiency. The carmaker claims that the new engine will fix all that. Even though the carmaker wanted to keep details about the engine’s output in secrecy, their Global Product Development Vice President blurted that it will be good for more than 450 horses. However, details about level of torque haven’t been published yet but we assume that it will be more than 434 lb-ft. The engine will be teamed up with a 10-speed auto shifter with paddle shifters will have positive impact on fuel economy. It will also provide smooth shifting at lower and higher speeds.
Pricing of 2017 Ford F 150 Raptor
The carmaker hasn’t said a word about pricing of 2017 Ford F 150 Raptor either, but we think that there won’t be significant department over the current model. The starting price of the previous model was around $51,000.
