GMC finally revealed the way the new 2016 GMC Sierra would look like. Right after they released a single photo of the new 2016 Silverado, they released nine photos of the refreshed 2016 Sierra. From what we have seen, the vehicle looks much alike the 2016 GMC Yukon. It is obvious that they followed almost the same design language of the Yukon line of SUVs, with the Sierra sporting the same C-shaped headlights and matching C-shaped taillights. For the 2016 model year, the vehicle has received a mid-cycle refresh. The vehicle will have a redesigned front fascia, and each one of the trim levels will have its unique design cues. To find out more details about the 2016 GMC Sierra, read the article below.
Exterior of 2016 Sierra
We have already mentioned that the vehicle takes after the mighty 2016 GMC Yukon. The vehicle shares the same C-shaped headlights with LED technology along with C-shaped taillights. The grille of the vehicle will be massive and much larger than the grille of its predecessor. It will extend further down into the revamped bumper. The grille gets a center mounted opening between the power dome bulges of the hood and itself. Each of the trim levels will get different grille treatment. The SLT trim level comes with a more traditional unit embossed in chrome but this time it will have a less flashy appearance. The highest trim level, Denali, comes with regular classic cheese grader grille that is fully drenched in chrome. A grille coated in a smoky gray color arrives on the All Terrain trim level. All non-work-truck trims will get a refreshed bumper with LED fog lights. It seems that there are no changes in bed’s bodywork. Generally, the vehicle looks good with all of the aforementioned changes.
2016 GMC Sierra Interior
As for the cab, it seems that there won’t be many changes. Most probably, the vehicle will get an upgraded infotainment system just like the Silverado. The infotainment software includes Android Auto capabilities and Apple CarPlay. This system allows smartphone users to connect their phones to the IntelliLink entertainment system. Even though the company revealed several images of the 2016 GMC Sierra, we couldn’t get a clear picture of the interior design of the cabin and that’s why details about it are pretty scarce. We sincerely hope that we will soon get the final list of features to share it with you.
GMC Sierra 2016 Engine
The new 2016 GMC Sierra will arrive with several powerful engine options that might be based on those of the previous generation but more fuel efficient and powerful for sure. The base engine for the newbie will be a 4.3 liter V6 which is good for 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. If this is not enough for you, you can choose a 5.3 liter V8 engine that has the capacity to deliver 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The most venerable engine option arrives in the form of a 6.2-liter V8 drivetrain that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Details about the transmission haven’t been announced, but we expect a new eight-speed automatic shifter to appear in the new 2016 GMC Sierra.
