The 2015 Hyundai Equus is Hyundai’s response to all those German luxury sedans, and to be frank they did it quite well. The car is comfortable, luxurious as well as powerful which is quite surprising considering all of these come from a car that is not made in Germany. However, there are also a couple of drawbacks, like the inconsistent build quality in certain areas but Hyundai promised they are trying to improve all that.
2015 Hyundai Equus Price
The price for the 2015 Hyundai Equus isn’t as high as you might think. While it can easily compete with cars that are twice as expensive, it only costs around $65,000 for a medium spec model that is equipped with the most powerful engine in the range. You can get the cheapest for the $61,500, according to the official site. And the Ultimate version for $68,750. The release date for this new model is expected to be somewhere in the first quarter of 2015. The available models will be Hyundai Equus Signature and Hyundai Equus Ultimate.
Engine wise there are a couple of engines available but only one of these can actually be had in the United States. The 5 liter V8 is shared with another Hyundai car, the Genesis. This is capable of nearly 428 horsepower and up to 380 lb-ft of torque in the latest spec. It might come from a sports car but it is really smooth and can handle all that weight without being noisy or ever feeling underpowered. All of this power however comes with a bad fuel consumption, so expect to get MPG 15 city / 23 highway!
The engine is available only with rear wheel drive which may turn some people off, but when it is mated to the 8 speed automatic you really forget all that. The transmission shifts gears seamlessly while doing it very fast, so it really is worthy of a luxury sedan. The suspension is actually an air ride that let’s you control how it reacts, so it is really comfortable when needed while offering an impressive ride if the Sport mode is selected.
When it comes to the interior, the 2015 Hyundai Equus will impress you for sure. The car comes with all you could want from a luxury model. There are electric front and rear seats that are both heated and ventilated, the leather upholstery is made out of really good quality leather while the infotainment system with the 8.5 inch display in the dashboard will surely impress anyone that uses it. The only thing missing from the base model is actually a better audio system, the one offered being quite poor in quality.
2015 Hyundai Equus exterior on the other hand is quite lacking to be honest. While it is a good car, the exterior looks like an old Mercedes, and this was what many people complained about the car. Hyundai made some progress but there could be a lot more to be done, especially to the front and back of the car.
