While the Mustang is a newly released model, Ford already managed to get a special edition for the next year when the car will hit its 50 years lifespan. The 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition will get released at the end of this year as a 2015 model. It will be based on the ongoing model with modifications to the exterior as well as to the engine and drivetrain, in order to give to the driver the best experience possible.
2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Release Date and Price
The car will try to imitate the Mach 1 Mustang as much as possible, so expect differently styled wheels and body kit, a different interior and a price to match all these. From early press releases, it will most likely cost as much as $50,000 for one of them which is quite high, especially when you consider the base 5 liter V8 only costs $33,000. It makes you wonder what they managed to squeeze in that body for nearly $17,000 more.
Engine wise, the car will get the same 5 liter V8 from the GT but this time with a new intake system as well as a new ECU. These two improvements will give it around 30 horsepower and 20 lb-ft of torque more over the standard V8. This engine will give it a maximum top speed of around 160 MPH and an acceleration from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 5 seconds, making it marginally faster than the standard car.
The engine will be mated as standard to a 6 speed automatic that will drive the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. If you wanted you can choose a 6 speed manual which gives you better driving feedback than the automatic but it is slightly harder to use because the engine needs changing gears in order to make it go!
On the inside, the 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition will only receive minor updated like a new upholstery that will make it look a bit retro while the steering wheel will also receive a new wrap. On top of these two changes, the car will remain the same.
The 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition exterior on the other hand will get quite a bit of updates. Let’s start with the front of the car which will receive a new front grille and a new bumper. These two will get chrome inserts in order to make it more similar to that of the old Mach 1. The back of the car on the other hand will receive a new diffuser and also a new set of tail lights. Chrome is still present here in the lights as well as in the boot lid. The side of the car has the most impressive changes from them all. The side windows use three different layers of glass in order to make for a special effect that imitates the louvers of the original Mustang.
